Everything’s coming up roses…
If you're wondering why our logo is a slightly psychedelic rose – it's because this is very much the theme of William White's noted wall paintings here at Quy Hall.
In the drawing room ceiling alone we've spotted at least six different rose motifs, which are repeated over and over; the flower appears on the fireplace marble surround, the old bell buzzer, the curtain finials, the door handles, the fireplace tiles. The more we look, the more we spot. There are roses of every shape and size from Tudor roses to simple, stylised outlines. So we’ve embraced it.
Outside, the long border in front of the house is planted up with 106 English shrub roses from David Austin to reflect the interior – and now our logo honours the more intricate rose, in the colours which appear predominantly in the library.
